01 INTRODUCTION

Nigeria is a beautiful country, richly endowed with diverse natural and human resources. With a population of over 250 million, it is the largest Black nation in the world and one of the top oil and gas producers globally. In addition to oil, Nigeria holds vast deposits of gold, copper, lithium, iron ore, lead, zinc, cassiterite, and coal, among others. The country also boasts some of the most fertile lands for agriculture in the world and a rich cultural heritage.

In the 1980s, Nigeria was the envy of many nations. The economy was stronger than that of several countries that are now considered developed. At one point, the Nigerian currency was stronger than the U.S. dollar. Back then, Nigeria was proudly called the "Giant of Africa."

Today, however, Nigeria is grappling with widespread corruption, insecurity, lawlessness, poverty, illiteracy, electoral violence, and rigging—often without any serious consequences. Looting of national resources has become normalized, and lawlessness is rampant. As a result, many Nigerians, saddened by the nation’s deplorable state, are migrating out of the country in droves. Yet, in the face of all this, millions—especially Nigerians in the diaspora—remain optimistic and proud. They still believe in the vast potential of Nigeria. They see a nation that can rise above its current challenges and become even greater than Singapore or the United Arab Emirates.

These patriotic Nigerians continue to ask the hard questions:
Why has Nigeria fallen so far behind? What is the real problem? What needs to be done to rebuild this great nation? After careful reflection, one conclusion stands out clearly: The major problem of Nigeria is failure of leadership. Only through visionary, accountable, and transformational leadership can Nigeria truly awaken from its slumber and fulfill its destiny.

Global Support for a New Nigeria is a nonprofit organization born out of deep love for our homeland and an urgent desire for lasting change. We are united in our commitment to good governance, the eradication of corruption, and the elimination of poverty. We are a global network—millions of Nigerians in the diaspora and at home—joined by friends and allies of Nigeria across the world. From our headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas, our reach extends throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.

At the heart of our mission is a firm belief: Nigeria’s greatest challenge is a failure of leadership—and this crisis must be addressed with urgency. We believe that by confronting and overcoming this leadership deficit, Nigeria can unlock its true potential and rise to greatness. Together, we say: Enough is enough. We will raise our voices, mobilize global support, and work relentlessly to identify, support, and empower visionary leaders—men and women of integrity who will lead with courage, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to the people.

A New Nigeria is not just a dream—it is possible. But it must become a movement, and the active involvement of Nigerians in the diaspora is essential to its success. Nigeria must be better. Nigeria will be better.

Our mission is to unite Nigerians in the diaspora all over the world to advocate for good governance, combat corruption, eliminate poverty, and help rebuild Nigeria. We believe that the root cause of Nigeria’s challenges is failed leadership.

To address this, we are committed to identifying, supporting, and training credible leaders, while promoting transparent and democratic processes that foster effective leadership. We will also engage the international community—through lobbying, dialogue, and strategic partnerships—to promote and support accountable and selfless leadership in Nigeria, Leadership is everything.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see the rise of a new Nigeria—one that fully harnesses its abundant natural and human resources to become a leading, developed nation. A Nigeria marked by a strong and inclusive economy, a low corruption index, robust security, and drastically reduced poverty. We envision a nation where good governance, the rule of law, accountability, and transparency are the foundation of leadership. A Nigeria where economic growth and national development are prioritized, and where the country stands shoulder to shoulder with global leaders—equal to or surpassing nations like Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Recruiting, grooming and supporting leaders in Nigeria and within the Nigerian diaspora who embody the values of good governance, integrity, and service to the public.

Advocacy and Awareness:

Raising awareness about the
importance of good governance, transparency, and the fight against corruption in Nigeria, both within the diaspora and in Nigeria.

Training Programs:

Offering training opportunities for emerging leaders in Nigeria, focusing on skills such as governance, transparency, conflict resolution, and community development.

Collaboration with Key Stakeholders:

Building partnerships with international organizations, Nigerian government agencies, and civil society groups to foster sustainable development initiatives.

Promoting Democratic Principles:

Advocating for free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria while supporting the broader democratic processes in the country

Promoting and advocating for public policies that prioritize transparency, accountability, rule of law and responsible use of national resources.

The implementation of our mission will be structured around the following key activities:

Diaspora Outreach:

Engaging the Nigerian diaspora through social
media, events, conferences/summits and networking opportunities to unite them in the shared mission of transforming Nigeria.

Chapters:

There will be both country, regional, state and city chapters, groups, or teams to form a functional organization that will meet, organize and implement our mission and vision.

Leadership Recruitment and Selection:

Establishing a robust framework to Identify, recruit, and support individuals with the qualities necessary for effective leadership, ensuring a pipeline of leaders ready to serve Nigeria.

Partnerships and Alliances:

Collaborating with like-minded
organizations, government entities, and businesses to create a conducive environment for promoting good governance and economic development.

Training and Development Programs:

Offering leadership development courses, workshops, and mentorship programs aimed at equipping potential leaders with the tools they need to succeed in a complex and dynamic sociopolitical environment.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

Setting up monitoring and
evaluation mechanisms to track the progress of our initiatives, ensuring that our actions are aligned with our mission and vision.
